BLP invests in Heidelberg press
Newcastle based print, packaging and logistics firm, BLP hope to achieve a £2m new- business target with the acquisition of a 12 colour Heidelberg B1 Press to replace its MAN Roland B1 press.
The machine, which will supply some of the UK's leading brands, will be installed in October to work alongside BLP's MAN Roland 700 six-colour B1 HiPrint and its MAN Roland B2 press, bought in 2007. Floor reinforcement work at BLP's manufacturing plant has been necessary to accommodate the new kit.
"The Heidelberg is a 12-colour press with full colour control technology and the ability to print both sides of a sheet in a single pass, delivering greater quality and significant efficiency improvements on high volume print runs", said BLP's Operations Director, Bill Germaney, adding, "Our existing MAN Roland B2 will continue to produce shorter print runs, giving BLP flexibility to meet varied volume and deadline demands of our customers."
The Company, which employs 130 people at its Benton site, now hopes to attract new Customers, and improve print capacities and efficiencies.
