David Cameron congratulates “recession-busting” growth
Congratulations were in abundance for Polythene UK as Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, gave praise to the plastic packaging supplier for landing a young entrepreneur award.
James Woollard, the Managing Director of the Oxfordshire company, who hail from Cameron's Witney constituency, has won the Shaw Gibbs Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award following a double in turnover during its two-year existence.
"To achieve growth like this in a recession is truly impressive. Polythene UK is to be congratulated on this achievement which they obviously richly deserve", Cameron said.
Woollard explained "The signs are good that repeat orders are coming back", adding "My team work hard and anything like this is something we can all be proud of." The 32 year old said that despite turnover staying almost constant since the recession began, they had reported an increase in net profits, and, that winning the award had been a huge boost to the Company.
Polythene UK supplies ranges of high strength films including its three and five layer laminated Poly-Lite film that offers outstanding strength at lower gauges. The applications include shrink-pallet covers, collations shrink film and polythene bags.
Formed in 2007, Polythene UK and the 12 strong team have a background working for plastics film manufacturers.
