Innovia to supply Italian snack food firm in Italy
Innovia Films has been awarded a contract to supply Italian food manufacturer, New Factor, with its cellulose-based NatureFlex NK material which will be used to pack its organic nuts and dried fruit product Mister Nut Bio.
NatureFlex, is biodegradable and compostable, and, acts as a moisture barrier. According to Innovia it is the best moisture barrier of "any single layer biopolymer film currently available", although not as effective as co-extruded oriented polypropylene. Plant Director, Fabrizio Pellegrini, "NatureFlex offers protection for our product, as all good packaging should......at the same time, it meets the eco-credentials for this organic range and has fitted into our production line process with minimal adjustment needed."
New Factor worked closely with Innovia and designer and photographer Marco Morosini to design the packaging for the products. Each pack has a cardboard label on the film, both of which are biodegradable and compostable.
Manufactured from wood pulp, Natureflex, can break down in a compost bin within weeks, and, can be used to package dried foods. It is also anti-static, glossy, transparent, printable, as well as having a wide heat-seal range, it is grease and oil resistant and providing a good barrier to gases and smells.
