New online waste-reduction course launched
Packaging manufacturers may save up to £1,000 per employee with a new waste reduction initiative to be implemented by Envirowise.
Envirowise hope that the online course, 'Rethink Waste', which will look at developing and implementing waste saving strategies will help to uncover the true cost of waste to businesses. The course was developed alongside the manufacturing association EEF.
Michael Savage, Envirowise production specialist, explained that rising landfill costs were an economic imperative to minimise waste at every opportunity saying that "While many UK manufacturers have enthusiastically adopted recycling measures, there are more opportunities to reduce and reuse materials - actions that could substantially benefit the bottom line".
Head of Environment, Gareth Stace, said that support would mean that manufacturers would "get the best from their resources", adding, "Free initiatives such as 'Rethink Waste' offer a practical and accessible route to resource efficiency".
Early 2010 will see the start of the courses and participants will also be able to use a virtual factory tour, audiocasts and a resource efficiency conference.
