Waitrose move away from box labels
In an attempt to move away from printed information labels, Waitrose will start to print key information directly onto egg boxes.
The store began using the new printed boxes in May of this year and it is their intention that all boxes will be using this 'printed format' by the end of 2009.
Waitrose is a signatory of the Courtauld Commitment to deliver absolute reductions in packaging waste by 2010. It has reduced packaging waste by 30% since 2000.
Earlier this year, Waitrose said it would be bulk importing its new Virtue range of wine and bottling it in the UK, resulting in reducing carbon emissions by 47 tonnes per year.
