Wewow launches spiralling CD pack

Communion Records is the first customer of a CD and DVD case made from a single spiralling piece of card designed by Bradford based company Wewow.

The 'WowSpiral' is made from FSC certified card printed with vegetable oil-based inks.  The spiral forms a claps to hold the disc and requires neither glue nor a plastic tray.

Short runs of just 100 units can be ordered by Customers, a move in response to the growing incidence of companies producing limited edition runs.

Communion Records were looking for a "creative, eco-friendly" form of packaging for folk artist Peter Roe's 'The Merry Go Round' EP.   The WowSpiral was finished in golf foil blocking.

A Wewow spokeswoman said that the WowSpiral has generated interest from other prospective clients, receiving 30 enquiries in the last week alone, saying, "There has been a lot of interest from independent record labels but also from design and marketing agencies [looking to use the packaging in promotions] and a major CD/DVD manufacturing plant as shown a keen interest in the product."
